The Graphics & Visualization team within the City Planning Department has a mission to build an automation tool capable of creating report maps connected to the development review process for the Community Council. This project aligned to the City's Strategic priority of "Modernization", as well as technology innovation and paperless transactions.
The Report Mapping Modernization Project is designed to automate report graphics for City Planning's community council. 60% of the Graphics & Visualization (G&V) unit's workload is spent producing report graphics for the development review process. With the hours saved in automation, our efforts can now be more productively spent in other types of projects such as work program studies, evidence graphics, 3D modelling & to explore innovative approaches for data visualization. With FME, automation has allowed us to produce these report graphics in just minutes. G&V staff quality control and ensure the graphics and maps are ready even before the client has submitted their request!
