MApps People's Choice Awards

The People's Choice MApps Award recognizes outstanding maps and geospatial applications developed by BeSpatial members. Whether you've created a powerful web or mobile application, an insightful dashboard, or a compelling cartographic product, this program highlights the creativity, innovation, and real-world value of Ontario's geospatial community. Check out our award categories below!

Best map: Traditional, printed, or material-based cartographic products and projects.

Best app: Web applications, dashboards, story maps, and mobile applications.

How to participate

Submissions are currently closed. Now is the time to prepare and finalize your project!

To submit your project, you must:

• Be an active BeSpatial Ontario member.
• Register to attend BeInspired 2027.
• Complete the online submission form and upload a narrated video (maximum 1 minute) showcasing your map or application.

Video submission guidelines

Videos must be 60 seconds or less. Videos exceeding one minute will be stopped at the one-minute mark.

Your video should include:

• A brief overview of your project and intended audience.
• The problem it solves or the story it tells.
• A visual demonstration, screenshot, or live walkthrough.
• One key takeaway or impact you want viewers to remember.

All submitted videos will be available for viewing in the online MApps Gallery.

How winners are chosen

The award winners are selected by our very own BeSpatial community! Those who attend our BeInspired conference will have the opportunity to view submissions before and during the event, then cast their votes for their favourite entries. The projects receiving the most votes in each category will be awarded the People's Choice MApps Award.
