Using Gis For Equitable and Sustainable Development

Date: Thursday, June 20, 2024 - 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM

Webinar will be led by Jenny Zhou and Dixon Tse, GIS Analysts for Arup Canada.

This webinar will explore various applications for how GIS is used to study equitable and sustainable development within infrastructure, transportation, and community engagement as part of the planning and evaluation process for North American projects. The panel will showcase utilization of GIS in projects to identify and prioritize climate-resilient site selection based on social factors, flood risk, and urban heat islands. It will also present how GIS can uncover spatial patterns which helps streamline the adoption of electric vehicles in an equitable manner as the transportation industry races to transition to net zero carbon. To summarize, this presentation will show how GIS can support informed decision making to promote equitable and sustainable growth of North American communities.
